I retired from the fire service (volunteer and career) after serving my community for just over 25 years. During the last decade or so of my career, I began a journey to change the culture of the fire service to include more awareness on mental health and normalizing the discussion about the chronic career stress most firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and dispatchers experience during their tenure in public safety. I am currently the Chair of the New Mexico Coalition for Suicide Prevention and Awareness. I am an instructor for Public Safety Psychology Group, the National Volunteer Fire Council, and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, a Master's in Emergency Management, and a Graduate Certificate in Disaster Mental Health. I was a licensed paramedic for over 20 years. I have been retired for four years and am learning more about self-care and resiliency. I have become a practitioner of mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. I use these tools to help keep me centered and keep my mind calm. I am helping to administer mindfulness retreats for fire and EMS personnel within our state.

I am a Diné from Shiprock, NM.  I live and work in Albuquerque, NM and work as a nurse executive.  I started yoga after an injury from kickboxing class.  After practing yoga for a few years, I decided I wanted to become a yoga instructor.  I had moved back to Shiprock, NM.  My goal was to provide yoga to those on the reservation who did not have access to a yoga studio.  Once I finished my 200 RYT training, I provided yoga classes to the community for free for about a year.  My classes were beginner vinyasa flow to healthcare professional and community members.  It was a free class.  Then I moved back to Albuquerque and I taught yoga at a small gym called Truth Fitness.  The students in my classes here were new to yoga.  The pandemic occurred and I taught online with Truth Fitness.  I also became a teacher with a Native American yoga group called Native Strength Revolution.  I taught online classes with this organization for about a year.  I have also obtained training in chair yoga.  In June 2024, I obtained my 500 RYT.  During the pandemic, I provided chair yoga to the clinic staff I worked with in Santa Fe.  Then after obtaining my 500 RYT, I started to teach at Able Strength Fitness with a focus on mobility and athletic recovery.  I really enjoy working with athletes and with folks that aren't familiar with yoga.  My classes focus on incorporating beginning yoga with mobility and focusing on active recovery. I've provided chair yoga class to my colleagues at work for a wellness month project. I've also taught yoga at a Native American conference in 2023.  I volunteered with Running Medicine and taught weekly yoga classes after the runs.

Yoga changed my perceptions and my life. I left my engineering job, and focused my energy and passion for yoga teaching. I derive joy from learning and inspiring others to step into their power and learn themselves. I want to empower others, my kids, with a positive attitude. I strive to teach from a place of authenticity and personal stories that resonate because after all, we are all connected. I pride myself on seeking training and education opportunities to stay up-to-date. I’m a true yoga nerd - a work in progress, definitely on a journey.

My passion is focusing on students and teachers, injuried and healthy. I am a preparer, and I strive to make the complex poses, postures, touching your toes simpler and explaining the why along the journey.  Taking the practice of yoga off the mat and into your world is the real joy of yoga.  The kinder we are to ourselves, the kinder and gentler we can be to others.  Yoga starts with how we treat ourselves and others.  I gladly answer questions and engage in discussions. All yoga students are welcomed to my studio as I consider them friends and extended family!

I am a holistic movement coach, steel mace vinyasa head coach, perimenopause coach, AND a singer! I'm a 200 HR RYT since 2019and 100 HR Steel Mace Vinyasa teacher since 2024. I've also been a music teacher for 22 years, with an MS in Education. Certifications in nutrition, wellness coaching, perimenopause coaching have all impacted my  philosophy. I love steel mace vinyasa because it combines strength with yoga, somatics, nervous system regulation, and HIIT.

I truly believe all humans have the ability to heal and that we are all more powerful than we know. I love the integration of movement with mindful breathing and the voice: singing and more.

My name is Cascade and I've been practicing yoga regularly since 2006. I started with gentle classes in my Málaga neighborhood in Spanish and have studied with teachers in the states and around the world since then.  I did my first teacher certification in 2012 and taught at studios in the Seattle area, as well as introduced yoga as a physical education class at the high school where I taught. I've also lived and taught in Mexico and Myanmar. I'm a traveler as well as a yogi.

I completed my 300 hour in 2017 and moved to Albuquerque in 2019. Currently I teach at Bhava, Nirguna, Heights Community Center and for Bliss in the City pop-ups. I offer weekly classes, workshops, teacher education and retreats. I adore vinyasa but yin and restorative (as well as meditation) are also an important part of my practice. I'm registered with Yoga Alliance (500 RYT, 200 EYRT and YACEP). I've also done trauma informed yoga teacher training, as well as many other certs and workshops.

My name is Flora María Gutiérrez.  I studied with Alice Chalifoux at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), earning a bachelor’s degree in Harp Performance.  Later, I studied with the harp professor at the Juilliard School, Nancy Allen, and subsequently with Barbara Allen in New York City.

In my professional music career, I have been a member of Costa Rica’s Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil (youth orchestra) and played with Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica.  I also occasionally played with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. My love for and study of yoga began nearly 30 years ago.  More recently, I deepened my practice by completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in 2025.  I currently live in Albuquerque, where I continue with both my music and yoga practices.

I began my teaching journey in 2018 with Mi Vida Yoga’s Sacred Heart and S.O.A.L Mystic Yoga School. In 2024, I completed my advanced 300 hour training with them, making me an RYT 500. I’ve taught consistently at Mi Vida Yoga since 2019, and also taught for YogaZo for a couple of years. In addition, I was invited as a guest teacher in the 200 hour trainings four years in a row where I taught sequencing and alignments and adjustments to students in training.

My lineage is rooted in making yoga accessible for all, and it’s something that I bring to every single class I guide.
